ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SHARKS, BUT YOU ARE AFRAID TO ASK
Is the shark afraid of the knife? Does he like human meat? What do a surfer and a turtle
have in common? Can a shark see colors? Why is a coconut more dangerous than a man-
eating shark? What swims in the Red Sea?
The biggest fish, the strongest jaws and the fight in the womb. Sharks are a group of fish
that have aroused fear and fascination in people for centuries. Many of us consider them
cannibals, some consider them a delicacy. The interesting facts about sharks we have
collected prove that they are, above all, fascinating creatures.

HE BIGGEST VEGETARIAN IN THE WORLD
Whale shark. This wonderful creature of gigantic size and gentle nature is the largest fish in
the world. Whale shark reaches 13 m in length and 14 tons in weight, and feeds on plankton!
It is a true cosmopolitan, migrating in search of food - its migrations are probably related to
the development of plankton and changes in water temperature.
SHARKS FIGHT EACH OTHER BEFORE THEY ARE BORN
This phenomenon has been observed in tawrosh shark embryos. These fish develop in the
mother's body, although they hatch from eggs. Initially, as many as 40 of them develop in
the uterus. But as soon as baby sharks develop teeth, they start eating each other. In the
end, only one embryo remains - still hungry. Therefore, the female lays unfertilized eggs full
of nutrient-rich yolk. This is what the little cannibal feeds on until it is born. A biologist found
this out when he put his hand into a dead pregnant female - the unborn shark bit off his
finger.

MYSTERIOUS RALLIES OF FEMALS DURING THE FULL MOON
Recognized by their unusual T-shaped heads, these ocean wanderers have excellent
eyesight, but their field of vision is limited because they cannot see anything right in front of
their mouths! Their keen eyesight is perfect for spotting and hunting for their favorite meal –
rays. This delicacy is probably the reason for the annual gathering of female hammerhead
sharks off the atolls of French Polynesia. Where else can you spot hammerhead sharks?
Here in the Red Sea!
WHAT SHARKS LIVE IN THE RED SEA?
Certainly, blacktip and whitetip reef sharks and blue sharks, which reach a length of up to
five meters, are very fast, as they can reach speeds of up to 45 km per hour. Generally, they
do not attack humans, although when they sense some disturbance in the water, they swim
up because they think they are dealing with a weakened, injured animal. Everyone prefers
easy prey.
